My basketball journey began 25 years ago with an unforgettable experience at a Brighton Bears game. Sitting courtside, close enough to touch the players, I was immediately captivated by the intensity and excitement of live basketball. That intimate first encounter with the sport sparked a passion that has continued to grow over the past quarter-century.

My unique introduction to basketball through the British game has given me a special appreciation for the sport’s development in the UK, and I have been fortunate enough to witness live some of the game’s all-time greats.

My connection to basketball runs deep, spanning over four decades of involvement at multiple levels of the game. I’ve played purely for the love of the game – from university basketball benchwarmer to amateur local leagues and Masters competition – enjoying every minute despite my limitations! Beyond playing, I’ve made contributions to basketball development through coaching and establishing a thriving community basketball club, helping to grow the game at the grassroots level.

As a dedicated fan for more than 40 years, my passion for basketball has taken me around the world to experience the sport at its highest levels. My understanding of the game comes from watching basketball across multiple contexts – from the NBA and NCAA in the United States to Euroleague competition and the British basketball scene. This broad exposure to different styles and levels of play gives me a well-rounded understanding of the sport. I’ve also done it all behind the scenes – from referee to fantasy league commissioner to arena DJ. If there’s a job in basketball, I’ve probably given it a go!
